Bio
Tom Shoop is the former editor in chief at GovExec, which produces publications serviing public sector managers and executives.
Tom also is an advisory member of the Fairfax County History Commission, whose mission is to identify, document, record and preserve the county's historic past.
He has written extensively about government at all levels and various historical periods, and is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
In 2023, he became a full-tiime writer and historian. His first book is A Place Called Ilda: Race and Resilience at a Northern Virginia Crossroads (Rivanna Books, University of Virginia Press, 2024)
Tom lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife Julie.
